The city has transformed: its homicide rate has dropped more than 90% since the early 1990s and in 2024 reached its lowest level since 1942, around 11 per 100,000 residents, which is lower than several major US cities. The areas where our tours run, like El Poblado and Provenza, are lively and well-policed, with locals and visitors out every night. As in any big city the main thing to watch is petty theft like phones and wallets, and the easiest way to not worry about any of it is exactly what you are booking: you will be with a local guide who knows the city, keeps the group together, and handles everything so you can just enjoy the experience.
